The start date will be mutually agreed upon.

Located within the heart of Ottawa, The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the University of Ottawa are pediatric health and research centres that provide outstanding family-centred patient care, pioneer breakthrough research, and train the health care professionals of tomorrow. The Division of Hematology/Oncology serves as the sole provider of pediatric oncology and hematology services for Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, a population of approximately 2.1 million, and also serves as the referral center for patients from Northern Ontario and Nunavut. The Division of Hematology and  transfusion Medicine provides laboratory hematology and transfusion services to CHEO patients. With the implementation of the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) in 2013, pediatric hematology/transfusion laboratory expertise is shared with all 16-member hospitals in the region.

The successful candidate will join 6.8 FTE Hematologists/Oncologists in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. Clinical duties will include both inpatient and outpatient hematology and oncology service. As part of the Division of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at CHEO, the individual will provide coverage for both the clinical hematology and transfusion medicine laboratories. Duties include review and interpretation of pediatric peripheral blood, fluid, and marrow morphology, coagulation testing, hemoglobinopathy investigations, specialized hematology testing and transfusion medicine testing as well as administrative duties related to the laboratories. Both divisions are active in research and education, and the candidate is expected to contribute in both areas.

The successful applicant will join an academic alternate funding plan. Faculty rank will be dependent on qualifications. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, but Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. CHEO is committed to Employment Equity and welcomes applications from all qualified men and women, including aboriginal people, visible minorities and persons with disabilities. Applications will be accepted until May 31st 2016 or until the position is filled.
