The C17 Research Network Committee is seeking applications for the position of Clinical Research – Stem Cell Transplantation (1 position).

Applicants should have experience in basic and clinical research who have established reputations in their respective fields, and who share a national vision for research. They will have an affiliation with one of the 17 centres or associated universities. Consideration will also be given to selecting members who represent large and small centres, and institutions across Canada.

We ask all who receive this call for nominations to help us to distribute it as widely as possible. Please forward the call for nominations to institutions, organizations and individuals who might be interested in posting and/or responding to it.

C17 is searching for a new Children’s Oncology Group Senior Medical Officer (click for information on signing bonus)

Are you, or someone you know, a pediatric hem/onc MD with a keen interest in exploring clinical trial regulation and oversight in Canada?  C17 is searching for our next COG SMO – the perfect way to get your regulatory fix.  In addition, the successful candidate would act as SMO for select trials in addition to COG, according to their expertise.  Time commitment is generally 3-4 hours/week, plus attendance at COG meetings.

SIGNING BONUS: Successful candidate would receive training from the C17 office and the outgoing SMO

Co-Chair, C17 Human Resources Committee (affiliated health professional position)-CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

These positions are for  non-medical leads (affiliated health professional position).  Please circulate this within your centre, and encourage eligible colleagues to offer their names.  These committees are responsible for key activities of our organization, and we need your help to get the word out.

Co-Chair, C17 Human Resources Committee (affiliated health professional position)

The C17 Council is searching for a Co-Chair for the C17 Human Resources committee. The C17 Human Resources committee is responsible for several initiatives of C17, including the support and encouragement of health professional “communities of practice”, workforce initiatives and surveys, and other topics that may be identified by the pediatric hematology/oncology profession. The Co-Chair will work closely with the physician Co-Chair and be co-responsible for budgets, work and decisions of the committee, attendance on Council teleconferences and meetings.  The Co-Chair, C17 Human Resources committee will serve a term of 3 years, renewable once. (After two terms, a new election will be called, but does not exclude any incumbent from standing for additional terms).

Requirements:

  • Affiliated health professional (non-MD) interested in working with the C17 Council
  • Expertise and experience in a this area

 

Deadline: Nominations will be accepted until 21 October 2016.

The nominee must indicate that they accept the nomination, provide a brief description of their qualifications, vision and goals for the position, and provide a copy of their CV. Nominations will be accepted until the deadline listed. The position will be voted on by the C17 Council.

The C17 Council is searching for a Co-Chair for the C17 Education committee. The C17 Education committee is responsible for the national videoconferences, education grant program, and Norma Auger Scholarship program. The C17 Education committee is also the umbrella committee for all other C17 education initiatives, such as Fellowship conferences, Laboratory training, Royal College, educational website, etc.  The Co-Chair will work closely with the physician Co-Chair and be co-responsible for budgets, decisions of the committee, attendance on Council teleconferences and meetings.  The Co-Chair, C17 Education committee will serve a term of 3 years, renewable once. (After two terms, a new election will be called, but does not exclude any incumbent from standing for additional terms).

Requirements:  

  • Affiliated health professional (non-MD) interested in working with the C17 Council
  • Interested in working with the C17 Council and Canadian health professionals on educational initiatives in the area of pediatric and AYA oncology, hematology and bone marrow transplant
  • Expertise and experience in a this area

How to Submit an Application

Please send your curriculum vitae with support of your program director and a statement of interest by email by August 15, 2016 to Leah Young at leah.young2@AHS.ca.  The call for applicants will be extended if required. The nominee will be selected by the C17 Research Network Committee; all applicants will be notified directly.

Work of the Committee

  • Conduct scientific review of applications to the C17 Research Grant Competition, and make recommendations to the C17 Directors and Executive Council regarding the awarding of the Research Grants
  • Set strategic priorities for C17 Research Activities

The Committee meets via email or teleconferences as needed.

Members of the Committee

Members of the committee include those with experience in basic and clinical research who have established reputations in their respective fields, and who share a national vision for research. They will have an affiliation with one of the 17 centres or associated universities. Consideration will also be given to selecting members who represent large and small centres, and institutions across Canada. Members of the C17 Research Committee will serve for a three year term, renewable once.

Call for nominations to the C17 Council Executive (due 22-Jan-2016)

The C17 Council has the following positions open for consideration:

  1. Secretary, C17 Council Executive (one position)

The C17 Council is searching for the executive position of Secretary of the C17 Council Executive. This position is a part of the executive that serves as the ongoing decision and governing body for C17 Council. The executive is responsible to and reports to the full C17 Council.

Responsibilities include attending monthly executive meetings, and annual face-to-face meetings, voting on pertinent decisions facing C17, setting the budget, and being responsible for formally minutes and decisions taken by the C17 executive.

Candidates should be familiar with the operations and priorities of C17 Council and be actively involved and aware of the current issues facing pediatric oncology, hematology and transplant in Canada.
